What driver version should I use with new Mac OS versions?
  Question
Which driver version do you recommend using for newer Mac systems (7.5, 7.6, 8.0, 8.1, 8.5, 8.6)?
  Answer
With newer systems running OS 7.5 or higher, we recommend using the standard Laserwriter 8 driver on the Mac system with our printer description file installed. This file is a text document called BLP Elite which is available as part of the BLP Application Files archive on our Web site (click here to go to the software download). Copy this file, again a text document called BLP Elite, into the Printer Descriptions folder in the Extensions folder.
Once this file is installed, you can go to the Chooser, select Laserwriter 8, select the name of the printer on the right, and click Setup. This will set up the driver to use the features of the
BLP Elite printer properly.

If you have additional memory or trays on the printer, go back to the Chooser, click Laserwriter 8, the printer name, and Setup again. Click Configure, enter the information about the trays/memory/etc., and click OK to accept. This will allow the Laserwriter 8 driver to make use of these features of the printer.

Please note: The BLP Series is not tested or supported with Mac OS versions above 8.6, including all releases of OS X. Due to the age of the printer, its PostScript interpreter and relative lack of processing memory, there are no plans for upgrades to the printer to allow it to work reliably with OS 9 or OS X.
