PostScript errors when printing via USB
  Question
Why do I receive a PostScript error when printing from a Mac to my Elite 12/600USB, Elite 12/600(N), Elite 12/1200(N) over the USB protocol?
  Answer
The GCC Elite 12/600USB; 12/600N; 12/1200N printers use Apple’s LaserWriter 8 driver. Apple did not offer support for USB printing until the release of OS 8.6. This OS release includes LaserWriter driver v. 8.6.5. When installed the system also installs the Apple Desktop Printer Utility v. 1.2. USB printing using Apple’s LaserWriter 8 driver requires OS 8.6 or higher, LaserWriter v. 8.6.5 or higher, and Desktop Printer Utility v. 1.2.

Any USB PostScript printer that uses LaserWriter 8 driver are unable to receive and process binary data from the system. The support for sending binary data has not yet been incorporated into LaserWriter 8. To resolve PostScript errors when printing to the Elite 12/600 USB,12/600(N),12/1200(N) over USB, you need to select ‘Send PostScript Data as ASCII’. Most applications have this option within the print dialog box. If you have imported any EPS files into your application, you will also need to make sure that the EPS files were saved as ASCII data, not Binary. Once the file has all ASCII data, it should print to the printer without receiving any postscript errors.
For 12/600N and 12/1200N users Please Note: Your printer has a 10 Base T Ethernet port, using this connection and a crossover cable available from GCC you can connect the printer over Ethernet. The Ethernet protocol accepts both Binary Data as well as ASCII Data without reporting any errors.
