Can DCHP be used to assign the printer's network address?

Can I use DCHP to dynamically assign the printer an IP address on my network?

True DHCP address management is not supported on GCC's Original Elite 12/600, 12/600N, 1212 or 12/1200 printers.
If your network requires the use of DCHP addressing, you may be able to get the printer to work on the network as follows:
-Assign the printer a static IP address. -Install LPR printing on each of the PCs that is to use the printer, and enter the IP address that has been assigned to the printer. -Within the DHCP Manager in Windows NT, the IP address of the printer must be reserved so that it is not assigned to other devices on the network.
Using true DHCP, each device on the network would be dynamically assigned an IP address each time it logged onto the network. Our printers require a static IP address and cannot obtain an address dynamically, so the only way of using the printer in a DHCP-based network would be to assign the printer a static IP address, then reserve that address so that the DHCP Manager does not assign it elsewhere.
Please note that the Elite 12N model does support DHCP. DHCP is enabled by default on the Elite 12N, which will automatically obtain an IP address and other parameters when placed on a network with an active DHCP server.
